Borough Ordinance Violation- While on patrol in the area of municipal parking lot three Officers observed an occupied parked motor vehicle with two people inside sleeping. Officers made contact with the individuals and made sure they were ok and advised them of the ordinance. The subjects were given a warning and left the area without incident.
First Aid- Police and Tri- Boro First Aid Squad responded to help a patient who was experiencing an elevated hear rate. Police and EMS arrived and began to assess the patient at the scene. They were transported to Community Medical Center for further treatment.
Well Being Check- Police were dispatched to the area of 4th and Ocean for a well being check. The caller stated when they spoke to their family member on the phone they seemed to be upset and possibly in distress and wanted the police to check on them. Officers arrived and made contact with those at the residence and spoke to the individuals involved and made sure they were alright. There were no issues to be found and everyone in the household was fine. No further police action required.

Alarm- Police responded to a burglar alarm activation in the area of K St. and Ocean. Officers arrived and checked the residence. An open door was observed but no signs of forced entry were observed. Police checked the remainder of the residence as well as the inside. Nothing appeared to be disturbed and it was determined that the open door was storm related. The door was secured by police and the owner was notified.
Community Policing- While on patrol in the area of Brighton and Central Police were flagged down by a resident who needed help picking up their barbecue grill which had fallen down from the storm. Officers lifted the grill and moved it to a more secure location out of the wind for the resident.
Suspicious Person- Police were called to take a report of a suspicious male in the area of Lafayette and Ocean Avenue. The caller waited until the next day to notify police that during the middle of the night she observed a male wearing a mask who attempted to enter her vehicle. She went outside and the subject became startled and took off and headed north. As per the caller he did not enter her vehicle and no damage was done.

Animal- While on patrol in the area of Island Ave. and Central Officers observed a loose dog. Officers were able to get a hold of the dog and check the collar and gather the owner’s information. The owner was located, and the dog was safely brought back home.

Fraud- A walk in at police headquarters wanted to make a possible fraud report. The caller stated they had a tenant possibly write them a check that was possibly fraudulent. Police gathered all the information needed to generate a report. At this time the caller only wanted a report generated and to document the incident and wanted to give the tenant a chance to make good on the rent. The caller was advised of complaint procedures if they wished to move forward with charges.
Keeping the Peace- Police responded to the area of G St. and Central Ave. to keep the peace for a female who was gathering personal belongings from a residence she was no longer welcome at. Officers arrived and spoke to both individuals and stood by while she retrieved her items without any incident. No further police action required.

Scam- There was a walk in at police headquarters who reported that someone in their household received several threatening text messages and videos from someone claiming to be from a drug cartel and they need to send them $2500 to get them out of trouble and if they didn’t, they would be harmed. Police gathered all the information and received copies of the videos and messages. Police attempted to call the number and there was no answer and appeared to be a fake number to use to as a money grab to scare someone into sending a sum of money. The caller was advised to block the number and not to message them back. All the information was forwarded to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office so they could further investigate to ensure that there was no legitimate threat.
