Criminal Mischief- Police responded to the area of Decatur and Lake Ave. for a report of criminal mischief to the caller’s front door. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller and had observed their front door had been shattered. A broken piece of tool which appears that it was used to do the damage was left on the front porch. No other damage was observed, and no signs of forced entry were observed. Photos were taken and information was gathered to generate a report. The residence had been unoccupied for a period of time, so it was undetermined when the damage took place.

 

 

Fraud- Police were dispatched to the area of 5th and Central to take a report of counterfeit money that had been discovered. Police arrived and spoke to the caller and gathered the information needed to generate a report and collected the counterfeit bills as evidence. The caller did not know who had paid with the counterfeit money. US Secret Service to be notified of the incident.

 

 

Odor Investigation- Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the area of Decatur and Ocean Ave. for a report of a possible natural gas leak. Officers arrived and checked the premises and made sure any occupants were out in the fresh air. The fire department arrived and checked the premises with their equipment and did not locate any issues and it was deemed safe to be inhabited.

Verbal Dispute- Police responded to the area of O St. and Ocean Ave. for a verbal argument between a male and female household members. Officers arrived and spoke to both parties to investigate what had occurred. After speaking with the parties involved it was determined to just be a verbal altercation and they were advised to go their separate ways for the remainder of the evening. Both were advised of complaint procedures in they wished to proceed with any charges.

Alarm- Police were dispatched to a burglar alarm activation in the area of E St. and Ocean Avenue. Officers arrived and checked the residence and did not observe any signs of forced entry. It was determined that the alarm was set off in error.

 

 

Well Being Check- Police responded to the area of 9th and Barnegat Ave. to check on an individual who the caller could not make contact with. The caller also stated that the subject was supposed to have an appointment with them, and they did not show up so they were concerned for their well being. Police responded and Officers were able to make contact with the subject and determined that they were fine. They were advised to call their friend and let them know they were alright.

Arrest- While conducting a motor vehicle stop in the area of 5th and Central Officers observed the odor of alcoholic beverages as well as marijuana emanating from the driver. After further investigation and conducting field sobriety tests it was determined that the driver was impaired, and he was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with DWI as well as other motor vehicle violations.

Trespassing- Police were dispatched to the area of K St. and the Boulevard for a caller who reported people inside a residence that should be unoccupied. Police arrived and spoke to the caller who stated the residence was winterized and no one should be inside. After further investigation it was determined that a male and female had entered the residence without authorization. Both subjects were charged by police for trespassing.
